Hersonissos
The seaside resort of Hersonissos lies 26km east of Heraklion. With numerous nightclubs and bars Hersonissos is a well-known place, especially to young people, for its wild nightlife where all the bars stay open until the crack of dawn.
The most popular place of the resort is the beach road, filled with shops, cafes and restaurants with terraces that hang above the sea. Small narrow beaches can be found in Hersonissos but more beaches, long and sandy are only a few kilometres away in Stalis and Anissaras.
For the ones that look for something more quiet, the traditional villages of Piskopiano, Koutouloufari and old Hersonissos are just above the resort on the mountain, with a totally different atmosphere and plenty of tavernas offering traditional Greek dishes.
