Plakias
Plakias is the perfect holiday spot, located on the south coast of Crete 40klm away from Rethymnon. It's not too large and so retains the traditional Cretan lifestyle but it's big enough to have a good range of accommodation, tavernas, shops and an interesting nightlife.
The main beach of Plakias is an attractive grey sandy beach that stretches around the bay. This place is well known for its strong winds and attracts many wind surfers.
A walk through the mainland will bring to life scenes from the past and will offer the opportunity to discover forests, picturesque villages, historical monuments and small chapels with significant treasures.
Plakias can therefore offer the visitor all the amenities of a modern holiday resort coupled with the traditions and friendliness of the local people.
