Platanias

Platanias

Platanias village lies on the western part of Crete just 10km away from Chania. It is an attractive holiday resort with soft sandy beaches, quality hotels, excellent services and breathtaking sceneries. It is situated by the mouth of the homonymous river, Platanias. At the river's shore there are many

plane-trees, which are called "Platania" in Greek and that explains the name of the area.

The picturesque old town is located above the resort on a hill and offers shopping and dining opportunities mixed with good views.

The wonderful beaches and the considerable tourist development with numerous facilities for the visitors, make Platanias the most important tourist centre of western Crete.
