Kourtaliotiko gorge

Kourtaliotiko Kourtaliotiko gorge begins at the village of Koxari in the direction of Preveli. The gorge took its name from the crackling noise that comes out of it when during the winter strong north winds make the rock walls whistle and small stones tumble and crackle.

Megapotamos river is flowing through the gorge forming five big pools on its way and a small waterfall just before the exit.

This is an area that resembles a tropical lagoon, surrounded by palm trees.

Where the river meets the Libyan sea, is an enchanting beach with crystal clear water, the palm beach of Preveli.

Not far from here a dirt path leads up to the asphalt road and the monastery of Preveli.
