Kamilari

Kamilari, a traditional quiet village, lies at the edge

of Messara plain, offering panoramic views both to the plain and the Libyan sea.

In the small village one can find mini markets, tavernas and a traditional cafenion at the central square.

The long sandy beaches of Kommos and Kalamaki are only 2.5klm away and can be reached on foot. Many important archaeological sites surround Kamilari, such as Phaestos, Agia Triada,

Gortyna and the famous Kamilari tomb just outside the village. That is the best-preserved Minoan vaulted tomb dating back to ca 1700BC.
