Kato Zakros

Kato Zakros The fourth largest Minoan palace, Kato Zakros, was discovered at the western corner of a small valley on the eastern coast of Crete.

A study of the findings confirm the presence of a heavily-populated Minoan city, which due to its geographical position, served as a commercial port and stop-off point for ships sailing to Africa and Asia.

At first some houses were discovered and much later the palatial country house and the palace

were unearthed. Many artifacts were found here as well e.g. double-headed axes, crystal bowls

and marble vases. Kato Zakros is situated in the cove of a small bay with a wonderful beach and lovely sea.
