Kato Zakros
![]() | The fourth largest Minoan palace, Kato Zakros, was discovered at the western corner of a small valley on the eastern coast of Crete. A study of the findings confirm the presence of a heavily-populated Minoan city, which due to its geographical position, served as a commercial port and stop-off point for ships sailing to Africa and Asia. |
At first some houses were discovered and much later the palatial country house and the palace
were unearthed. Many artifacts were found here as well e.g. double-headed axes, crystal bowls
and marble vases. Kato Zakros is situated in the cove of a small bay with a wonderful beach and lovely sea.
