Heraklion

By ferryboat from Piraeus: there are daily services that cover the 174 nautical miles distance. The journey takes about 8 hours.

By ferryboat from Thessaloniki: There is a connection all year round with the line Thessaloniki - Aegean Islands - Heraklion. During the summer there is a daily connection to Santorini by ferry or high speed boats.

By air: Heraklion international airport is one of the busiest airports in Greece during the summer. Charter flights connect Heraklion daily with many European cities. Domestic connections are daily and frequent.

 

Rethymno

By ferry from Piraeus: regular services are provided all year round to Rethymno port. The distance from Piraeus is 160 nautical miles and the journey takes 12 hours.

By air: Rethymno is served by flights to Chania airport (68km west) and Heraklion airport (78km) east.

 

Chania

By ferry from Piraeus to Souda: daily services, more frequent during the summer. The distance between Souda and Piraeus is 157 nautical miles and the journey takes about 11 hours.

By ferry from Peloponnesus to Kastelli: there is a regular service that connects Gythion with Kastelli, stopping in the island of Kythera.

By air: Chania is linked to many European cities with charter flights during the summer. Frequent daily flights connect Chania with the rest of Greece. Chania airport is 15km away from the city.

 

Lassithi

By ferry from Piraeus: there is a regular service from Piraeus to Agios Nikolaos and Sitia. The journey takes about 12-13 hours. Agios Nikolaos and Sitia are also connected to Rhodes and other Dodecanese islands.

By air: Lassithi prefecture is served by the airport in Heraklion and Sitia.
